EDO TASTIC
Poet/ Visual Artist
Edo Tastic was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and migrated to the Dominican Republic at the age of two before reuniting with his parents and siblings in New York City. Raised in Harlem, he takes pride in the concrete beauty, cultural vibrancy, and artistic influences that shaped his childhood and public school education.
In 2017, Edo self-published two books, Effects and He Was Here, both available through Edotastic.com (http://www.edotastic.com) and Amazon. His work has also reached unexpected spaces: Bloomingdale’s commissioned twenty-six of his poems for their Soho jewelry department and permanently installed his poetry on tile in the denim section of their East 59th Street store. He is currently preparing to publish additional poetic memoirs in his BURPS series.
Edo continues to explore ways of bringing poetry to new audiences. He has self-produced three lyric videos—Childhood Nuances, Star, and Sayin’ Things—as well as his first independent poetic film, Abducted: A Living Poet (2020, unreleased).
His live performances have grown from intimate apartment readings into immersive events at art galleries such as Smush Gallery (Jersey City, NJ) and The Living Gallery (Brooklyn, NY). He has also been a featured reader with New Voices and The Inspired Word, and has performed at venues including Café Con Libros (Brooklyn) and Bluestockings (LES).
